BOSTON – Suffolk women's tennis wraps up its 2021 campaign, its first in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), Saturday, Oct. 16 with a 4 p.m. showdown against Gordon at Belmont Hill.

SUFFOLK ATHLETICS 2021-22 FAN POLICY
Suffolk University Athletics, following guidance from the University's health and safety protocols, Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), Centers for Disease Control and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, plans to allow fans to attend home athletic contests during the 2021-22 academic and athletic year.

Fans, whether vaccinated or unvaccinated, can attend games. They must be masked the entire time they are on campus, pursuant to institutional policy, and complete a health screening form at the security desk of each building upon arrival. This policy applies to home contests played on campus at the Ridgeway Building's Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court, as well as the Emmons Horrigan O'Neil Memorial Rink and the Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink.

For outdoor outings, specifically at East Boston Memorial Park, fans are asked to respect COVID safety protocols. At this time, masks will not be mandated for fans no matter vaccinated status at outdoor venues.

LAST TIME OUT
Suffolk women's tennis fell in its road finale to Bridgewater State, 7-2, Saturday afternoon at Robinson Tennis Courts.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk is on a six-match skid that put the Rams at 2-7 on the season and 1-5 in CCC contests.  

Sarah Mezini has been the most successful Suffolk student-athlete. She is unbeaten, 4-0, as the Rams' ace, and has teamed up with both Ilda Ascic (2-1) and Kendall Smith (1-0) for the blue-and-gold's most consistent top tandems. 

FIGHTING SCOTS FACTS
Gordon has fallen in back-to-back CCC battles, 6-3 to Endicott and 7-2 to Roger Williams, to dip to 4-3 on the year and 3-3 in conference matches.  

Jordyn Maddex (3-2) has played five matches at No. 1 for the Fighting Scots. Madison West and Kristin Kendall have each proven to be the most successful single players though with identical 5-1 ledgers. The former's is split between the second and third courts, while the latter has seen action on courts three and four. 

In doubles play, Annette Kim and Maddex have teamed up for a 4-1 overall record exclusively on the top court.  

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Suffolk and Gordon have met once, Sept. 17, 2012. The Fighting Scots won that matchup, 6-3. 
  • The Rams will host Gordon for the first time.
