BOSTON – Suffolk women's looks to snap a three-match skid Wednesday, Sept. 29 when it travels to Roger Williams for a 4 p.m. Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) contest.

SUFFOLK ATHLETICS 2021-22 FAN POLICY
Suffolk University Athletics, following guidance from the University's health and safety protocols, Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), Centers for Disease Control and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, plans to allow fans to attend home athletic contests during the 2021-22 academic and athletic year.

Fans, whether vaccinated or unvaccinated, can attend games. They must be masked the entire time they are on campus, pursuant to institutional policy, and complete a health screening form at the security desk of each building upon arrival. This policy applies to home contests played on campus at the Ridgeway Building's Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court, as well as the Emmons Horrigan O'Neil Memorial Rink and the Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink.

For outdoor outings, specifically at East Boston Memorial Park, fans are asked to respect COVID safety protocols. At this time, masks will not be mandated for fans no matter vaccinated status at outdoor venues.

LAST TIME OUT
Suffolk women's tennis dropped an 8-1 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) contest to Endicott Saturday afternoon on the Gulls' South Campus Courts.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk has dropped its last three matches to fall to 2-4 on the season and 1-3 against CCC competition. 

Sarah Mezini has had the most successful Rams' racquet this season as the graduate student is unbeaten as the blue-and-gold's ace (3-0). She is also a powerful portion of doubles pairs as she holds a 2-1 in doubles play. Mezini has teamed up with both Ilda Ascic (1-1) and Kendall Smith (1-0).

HAVE TO KNOW ABOUT THE HAWKS
Roger Williams holds a 5-1 overall record and a 2-1 CCC ledger, however, the Hawks were handed their first loss of the season in their last outing at Nichols, 6-3. 

Emma Place (3-3) has played all six matches on the top singles court, while Alessia Cahoon is a solid in the second spot with her singles record matching the team's overall mark (5-1). The twosome teams up for un unbeaten doubles record of 6-0 on the first court.

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Suffolk and Roger Williams last met Sept. 9, 2019.
  • The Hawks shutout the Rams, 9-0, to keep the blue-and-gold out of the win column in the all-time series, 0-5.
  • RWU has swept Suffolk in back-to-back battles. Overall, the blue-and-gold has been kept off the scoreboard three times against the Hawks.
  • The foes will tangle in Bristol, Rhode Island for the first time since Sept. 12, 2016 and third time overall.

RAM OF THE WEEK
Sarah Mezini became the first Suffolk women's tennis student-athlete to take home Ram of the Week recognition, which is voted on by Ram Nation in a 24-hour Twitter poll. The accolade comes on the heels of a 3-1 individual week. The graduate student went unbeaten as the blue-and-gold's ace and teamed up in doubles play for a 1-1 mark.

COMING UP
Suffolk takes this weekend off and will return to action Tuesday, Oct. 5 at Nichols at 3:30 p.m.
