BOSTON – Suffolk women's tennis travels to Rhode Island College for a match on Thursday, Sept. 23. The Rams and Anchorwomen will face-off at the RIC Tennis Complex in Providence, Rhode Island at 3:30 p.m.

SUFFOLK ATHLETICS 2021-22 FAN POLICY
Suffolk University Athletics, following guidance from the University's health and safety protocols, Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), Centers for Disease Control and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, plans to allow fans to attend home athletic contests during the 2021-22 academic and athletic year.

Fans, whether vaccinated or unvaccinated, can attend games. They must be masked the entire time they are on campus, pursuant to institutional policy, and complete a health screening form at the security desk of each building upon arrival. This policy applies to home contests played on campus at the Ridgeway Building's Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court, as well as the Emmons Horrigan O'Neil Memorial Rink and the Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink.

For outdoor outings, specifically at East Boston Memorial Park, fans are asked to respect COVID safety protocols. At this time, masks will not be mandated for fans no matter vaccinated status at outdoor venues.

LAST TIME OUT
The Suffolk women's tennis team was defeated by Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) foe Western New England, 6-3, Monday night at Belmont Hill.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk sits 2-2 on the season and 1-2 in the CCC after falling to Western New England to begin the week. 

The Rams have seen three different student-athletes serve as their ace this season. Sarah Mezini (2-0) is the only player to pick up a triumph on the top court, while Ilda Ascic and Kendall Smith each slipped when playing once at No. 1. Mezini picked up a convincing golden match the top spot against the Golden Bears Monday to remain undefeated (2-0) in singles play.  

Mezini is the only player to be unbeaten in doubles play as well. She has teamed up with both Ascic and Smith to form the top tandem. 

ANCHORWOMEN ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
RIC is 4-0 on the year and 1-0 in Little East play. All four wins have come in shutouts over Regis, the University of Saint Joseph, Salve Regina and Bridgewater State. 

Jenna Lisi has anchored the team from the ace spot in all four matches and has failed to lose a set. Teammates Lauren Macera (No. 3), Serena Bobola (No. 5) and Clara Siegmund (No. 4), who make up the lower half of the Anchorwomen's ladder, have produced perfect sets through the quartet of outings as well.  

Lisi and Victoria Vittori have partnered up to form RIC's top doubles team. The duo is unbeaten through four outings. 

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Since 2001, Suffolk sits 4-11 against Rhode Island College. 
  • The Rams and Anchorwomen will meet for the first time since Sept. 11, 2019, which RIC won at home, 9-0. 
  • Suffolk has lost the last seven contests against RIC, the last win for the blue-and-gold over the Anchorwomen came in 5-4 fashion Sept. 27, 2012 at Belmont Hill.
