NEWPORT, R.I. – Suffolk women's tennis dropped its Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) opener to Salve Regina, 8-1, at Antone Center Courts Wednesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Sea Hawks jumped ahead to a 3-0 lead after sweeping doubles play. Dyani Mosquera managed to get the Rams on the board in singles action with a victory in the fifth slot, however Salve Regina picked up decisions on the five remaining courts for the final 8-1.

3 – Graysen Schere/Ellysa Tancrede (Salve Regina) defeated Giuliana Clause/Dyani Mosquera (Suffolk), 8-6

1 – Sailor Nordstrom (Salve Regina) defeated Ilda Ascic, 6-2, 7-6 (7-1)
2 – Alexa Stevens (Salve Regina) defeated Kendall Smith (Suffolk), 6-1, 6-4
3 – Casey Farrell (Salve Regina) defeated Giuliana Claus (Suffolk), 6-1, 6-0
4 – Annemarie Haas (Salve Regina) defeated Bianca Prescott (Suffolk), 6-3, 6-1
5 – Dyani Mosquera (Suffolk) defeated Graysen Schere (Salve Regina), 6-4, 6-2
6 – Ellysa Tancrede (Salve Regina) defeated Alyssa Blad (Suffolk), 6-1, 6-1 

NOTEWORTHY

  • Suffolk met Salve Regina for the third time since 2003 and first time since 2017. 
  • Mosquera remains unbeaten in singles play this action.
