Women’s Tennis Competes at ITA New England Regionals

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.  - Valentina Medina and Aidiana Sagyndykova represented Suffolk women's tennis in singles and doubles action at the ITA New England Regional Championships, hosted by MIT, Friday.

In singles play, Medina suffered her first collegiate setback on the singles court as the junior fell to seventh-seeded Mina Karamercan of Tufts, 6-3, 6-3. Sagyndykova, meanwhile, also fell in the table of 64. The senior dropped a 6-3, 6-0, decision to Amherst's Camilla Trapness.

The co-captains teamed up in doubles play and opened with a triumph as they defeated trinity's Julia Brogan and Jillian Winer, 8-1, to advance. The Rams' run was short lived, however, as they were stopped by fifth-seeded Giulia McDonnell Nieto del Rio and Sydney Myong of Williams, by an identical 8-1 score.

Medina, Sagyndykova and Suffolk returns to action Wednesday, Sept. 28 when the Rams host Springfield at 6 p.m.
