Women's Tennis Tops Rhode Island College, 5-4

The Suffolk University Women's Tennis team defeated the Rhode Island College Ancormen, 5-4 on Thursday evening in non-conference action.

Suffolk took a pair of doubles contests which turned out to be the difference as the teams split six singles matches as the Rams improve to 3-6 on the season, while Rhode Island College fall to a 3-7 mark.

Sophomore Adrianna Garrett (Plymouth, Mass.) and senior Allison Weisenbach (Hamden, Conn.) were multiple winners on the evening for the Rams, while freshman Rebecca Eshoo (Farmington, Conn.) also notched a pair of victories for Suffolk.

Garrett and Weisenbach teamed up for an 8-4 victory in the second doubles contest of the game and later went on to each win their singles games. Garrett was a 6-2, 6-1 winner in the third singles game, while Weisenbach posted a victory in the number four game with a 6-4 third set victory for her team leading sixth win of the year.

Eshoo and her partner, junior Melissa Chermely (Walpole, Mass.) took the third doubles match 9-7 for the Rams as Eshoo later went on to win the sixth singles game, 7-5 and 6-2.

Suffolk will be back in action on Saturday afternoon as they host Springfield College in non-conference action beginning at 2:00pm.
