UNE Rolls Past Women’s Soccer, 3-0

BIDDEFORD, Maine – Suffolk women's soccer trekked to Biddeford, Maine Wednesday night and dropped a 3-0 Commonwealth Coast Conference decision to the University of New England at Barbara J. Hazard Stadium despite sophomore Sophia Barker recording a match-high 10 saves.

HOW IT HAPPENED
In the first half, the Nor'Easters established dominance as they fired in a goal 15:35 into the contest to go up 1-0.  

UNE continued to prevail throughout the opening half, shooting 13 times to the Rams' four, yet were unsuccessful in extending its lead and Suffolk hung within one at the break. 

The Nor'Easters extended the edge to a pair nearly 20 minutes into the second stanza and 15 minutes later padded the margin even more to the eventual final score, 3-0. 

KEEPING UP WITH THE KEEPERS

  • Barker notched 10 saves in the setback. 
  • Sydney Gilligham earned the win in net with at three-save effort in 85:19. 
  • Ariel Martin played the final 4:41 for the Nor'Easters. 

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING

  • UNE outshot Suffolk, 21-7, including a 13-3 advantage in shots on net. 
  • The Rams took one corner compared to the Nor'Easters six.  

NOTEWORTHY

  • Barker had her second 10-save effort of the season.

Suffolk entertains Gordon in its final regular-season game at James A. Sartori Stadium at East Boston Memorial Park Saturday, Oct. 21. Prior to the 12 p.m. first kick, the Rams will recognize the playing career of their graduating players.
