Women’s Soccer Overpowers Nichols, 8-1

EAST BOSTON – Suffolk women's soccer put together a convincing 8-1 Commonwealth Coast Conference victory over Nichols Saturday afternoon. Ten Rams contributed a point in the league win.

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 8 | Nichols 1
RECORDS: Suffolk (7-3-2, 2-1-0 CCC) | Nichols (2-9-1, 0-4-0 CCC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Once Suffolk started scoring it did not stop as the Rams poured in three goals over a 2:33 span to build a 3-0 edge it never relinquished.

The first Suffolk strike came off an Avery Porter header set-up by a freekick from Kylie Flynn 9:45 into the contest.

The twosome of Klaudia Rushi and Chelsea Fallon teamed up for the next two scores. Fallon slipped the ball to a waiting Rushi right in front of Nichols net. The senior captain's side boot lofted over Adie Hughes' gloves to double the distance. On an attempt Nichols clear, Fallon stepped in front, gained possession for the blue-and-gold and once again found a diving Rushi. This time, the forward pulled Hughes out of position and scored opposite to push the lead to three.

Nichols wasted little time to get one goal back as a lofty ball by Falyn Hunt put the Bison on the board 2:03 after Suffolk's scoring frenzy to make it a 3-1 game with plenty of time left in the first frame.

Seven minutes out of the locker room the Rams restored the three-goal margin. Makena Columbus' initial shot was denied by Saige Frazier, but Jazmya Harris was there to put away the rebound to inflate the advantage to 4-1 in the 52nd minute.

Five minutes later, Isa Pereza etched her name on the scoresheet as she put away a feed from Harris to stretch the to 5-1.

Lily Goldman added even more to the cushion in the 64th minute as the sophomore sent a free kick through a heap of Bison defenders into the back of the twine to cushion the lead even further.

Malia Young threw in a pass to Daniela Petronio, who turned and shot from the 30-yard line and scored to give Suffolk a six-goal, 7-1 lead with 15 minutes remaining in the contest.

Suffolk did not let up on the scoring as Kylie Perron fired a high shot from 15-plus yards out into the back of the net to lengthen the distance to 8-1. Madelyn Murray set-up the score that came in the 87th minute.
