Bridgewater State Bests Women’s Soccer, 3-0

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Suffolk women's soccer saw its unbeaten streak come to an end as Bridgewater State shutout the Rams, 3-0, Thursday night at Mazzaferro Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Bridgewater State capitalized on a penalty kick less than three minutes into the action to grab a one-goal lead it did not let go of at the intermission. Audra McDuffie put away the PK at the 7:15 mark after the Rams were whistled for a foul inside the box.

BSU added to its advantage 2:11 out of the locker room when Mia Chrisafideis put away a feed from Olivia Robarge.  

Ten minutes later, the Suffolk's deficit grew to three. Robarge and Chrisafideis teamed up again, this time with the former scoring and the later assisting, to make it a 3-0 Bridgewater State game with 22 minutes remaining in regulation.  

Arden Ferrari-Henry turned aside the final two shots she faced the rest of the way, while Logan Levesque remained perfect for the Bears to keep things 3-0 BSU as the final buzzer sounded.  

KEEPING UP WITH THE KEEPERS

  • Ferrari-Henry finished with seven saves. 
  • Levesque logged two saves, one in each half, in the cleansheet.   

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING

  • Suffolk took four shots, half of which went on target. 
  • Makena Columbus half of the Rams' four shots and put one on target. 
  • Kylie Flynn's shot went on goal. 
  • Avery Porter had one shot. 
  • BSU took five corners, while Suffolk had three corner kicks.  

NOTEWORTHY

  • Suffolk played the Bears in Bridgewater, Massachusetts, for the first time. 
  • Ferrari-Henry registered a career-high seven saves. 
  • Both battles between the Rams and Bears have ended via shutout.

Suffolk is back at East Boston Memorial Park's James A. Sartori Stadium Saturday, Sept. 9 as it is scheduled to entertain Mass. Maritime at 1 p.m.
