Salve Regina Downs Women’s Soccer in Season Finale, 2-0

NEWPORT, R.I. – Salve Regina scored one goal in each half to take down Suffolk women's soccer, 2-0, in a Commonwealth Coast Conference affair Tuesday afternoon at Reynolds Field. The tangle between the Rams and Seahawks concluded the blue-and-gold's 2022 campaign.

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 0 | Salve Regina 2
RECORDS: Suffolk (4-9-3, 1-6-2 CCC) | Salve Regina (7-9-2, 4-3-2 CCC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Each team saw its chances in the first frame, but it would be a penalty kick that allowed the Seahawks to make their way on the board. Marissa Parachi connected on a PK in the 36th minute as she connected in the lower right-handed side of the net to give the host a one-goal edge it took into the locker room.

The distance doubled in the 77th minute when Jessica Galante put away and unassisted tally.

Suffolk attempted to erase the shutout with three attempts on target over the final 13 minutes. Reagan Moffatt stood up to the test and turned the trio of shots aside to keep things at 2-0 in the Seahawks favor.

NETMINDER NOTES

  • Maddie Brooke and Sophia Barker split time in net for Suffolk, both goalies made 10 saves in their respective halves.
  • Moffatt and Georgia Drake teamed up in net for the Seahawks. Moffatt had five saves, while Drake recorded eight stops.
