Brooke’s Career Night Not Enough for Women’s Soccer Against WNE

EAST BOSTON – Maddie Brooke had a standout showing in net, but it would not be enough as Suffolk women's soccer fell to Western New England, 1-0, in Commonwealth Coast Conference action Wednesday night at James A. Sartori Stadium at East Boston Memorial Park

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 0 | Western New England 1
RECORDS: Suffolk (4-7-3, 1-4-2 CCC) | Wester New England (10-4-1, 5-1-1 CCC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Golden Bears tested Brooke from the get go and peppered her with five shots in the first set of 45 minutes. The freshman stood up to the task and turned all five aside to keep zeros on the board as the teams headed to the locker rooms.

Suffolk managed to put the first shot in the second half on target as Grace Owens fired one towards Molly McLaughlin. WNE's netminder made the stop to keep the Rams scoreless.

The visitors took the momentum from McLaughlin's save down the pitch. Brooke managed to knock away the first shot she faced in the second stanza, however, the same can't be said about the second. Samantha Vikta figured out the blue-and-gold's keeper in the 62nd minute with help from Emma French and Allison Bruehwiler.

Brooke took care of business the rest of the way, making five stops the rest of the way.

Suffolk's offense did not get another opportunity on target though to keep it 1-0 in Western New England's favor at the final buzzer.
