Women’s Soccer Comes Up Short in CCC Opener at Nichols, 3-2

DUDLEY, Mass. – Suffolk women's soccer's CCC debut came down to the wire at Nichols as the teams were even at 2-all with just over two minutes remaining. The Bison managed to break the even playing field with 1:46 left in regulation to down the Rams, 3-2, Thursday afternoon at Nichols Soccer Field.

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 2 | Nichols 3
RECORDS: Suffolk (1-3-1, 0-1-0 CCC) | Nichols (3-2-0, 1-0-0 CCC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Suffolk faced a one-goal deficit after the first frame. Both teams played even for the first 30 minutes of action before Alana Snow found the back of the net in the 34th minute for the Bison. That goal sent the blue-and-gold into the intermission chasing one.

The Rams did not take much time to catch up as Klaudia Rushi equalized matters 3:48 into the second stanza. Eighteen minutes later, Kylie Perron pushed Suffolk in front when she put away a feed from Daniela Petronio.

Suffolk's lead did not last long, less than four minutes to be exact. Maegan Roy etched her name on the scoresheet just 15 seconds after she checked in. Roy converted a pass from Grace Killman into the game-tying goal with just under 20 minutes left on the clock.

The crowd was kept on the edge of its seat as time ticked off the clock. Each team had its fair share of shots, but it was Killman's in the 89th minute that would be difference maker. Sophia Barker could not grab the rock off of Killman's boot and it slid into the twine to boost the Bison in front, 3-2.

Suffolk managed to get a shot off in the final minute, but Emma Moyer's attempt was just high and the final buzzer sounded.
