BOSTON – Suffolk women's soccer first-year head coach Ellie McDougall hit the recruiting trail hard since being hired in February 2021 and brought in nine rookies to add more depth to the Rams' 2022 squad.
"I am extremely excited about the group of newcomers we have joining our program here at Suffolk," McDougall said. "They are a talented group who will help take this program to new heights, but more importantly they are fantastic people with a high amount of character. I am looking forward to watching them grow and leave their impact on the program, as well as the Suffolk Community."
All nine players will be making their collegiate debuts in Suffolk blue-and-gold with eight true freshmen – Sophia Barker, Alyssa Belmont, Maddie Brooke, Olivia DiGiacomo, Lily Goldmann, Molly Knight, Ella Marmash, Emma Moyer, Daniela Petronio and one sophomore Angel Hoye.
Position wise, there are two goal keepers, Barker and Brooke, one defender, Belmont, two forwards, DiGiacomo, Marmash and five midfielders, Goldman, Hoye, Knight, Moyer and Petronio.
This group will combine forces with the 24 returning Rams that tied the second-most victories (11-6-0) in program history a year ago and earned the fifth seed in the CCC playoffs with a 5-4-0 league ledger in the first year in the conference.
Suffolk's 16th women's soccer season and the McDougall era is set to get underway Thursday, Sept. 1 at Elms at 7 p.m.
