BIDDEFORD, Maine – After putting together the second-most wins in program history in its first year in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), the Suffolk women's soccer team secured the fifth seed in the upcoming CCC Tournament, the league office unveiled late Wednesday evening.

The Rams sealed the fifth spot behind a 5-4-0 league ledger and a tiebreaker win over Roger Williams. Both the blue-and-gold and the Hawks finished with 15 points in the standings, however, the Rams downed RWU, 2-1, in overtime in the final league match of the regular-season to claim the higher seed.

As the fifth seed, Suffolk heads to No. 4 Gordon for the quarterfinals Saturday, Oct. 30 at 4 p.m. The Fighting Scots, who shutout the Rams, 2-0, Sept. 18, went 4-1-1 over the rest of the regular season to claim the fourth position with a 6-2-1 conference mark.

Suffolk and Gordon are familiar foes with five meetings dating back to 2011. The Rams have never taken down the Fighting Scots in the all-time series and all, but the first meeting has ended in shutout fashion.

The victor of Saturday's showdown punches its ticket to the semifinals Wednesday, Nov. 3 and will face the winner of the quarterfinal contest between regular-season champion, No. 1 Endicott against No. 8 Curry. The Gulls and Colonels clash has a 5 p.m. kick-off.

The other pair of quarterfinals outings, both of which will begin at 1 p.m., feature No. 2 the University of New England hosting No. 7 Salve Regina and No. 6 Roger Williams at No. 3 Western New England.

Although this is Suffolk's first CCC post-season trip, it is the program's ninth trip to a conference tournament, second straight in playoff eligible seasons, in the squad's 15-year history and second in the Ashley Van Vechten era. The Rams have compiled a 3-5 record in the quarterfinals in its eight appearances in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) tournament and advanced to the semifinals three times, the last in 2016.
