Second Half Sends Women’s Soccer Past Wentworth, 4-1

EAST BOSTON – Suffolk women's soccer put away three unanswered goals in the second stanza to break a 1-all time and take down Wentworth in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Tuesday night.

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 4 | Wentworth 1
RECORDS: Suffolk (9-5-0, 3-4-0 CCC) | Wentworth (2-9-3, 1-5-1 CCC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Jenny Montville tacked on the first tally of the night at the 13:14 minute mark as the Leopards' freshman managed to sail the ball past Allison Rodrigues to give the guest the one-goal edge.

Suffolk would not trail for long as Hayley Long sent a missile to the back of the twine 46 seconds later. The unassisted tally lofted to the upper right-hand side of the net and leveled the game at 1-1.

Things stayed there despite the Leopards having a great breakaway chance with 16 minutes to play before intermission. Montville received a go-ahead feed at the 20-yard line and coasted for a one-on-one with Rodrigues. This time Rodrigues managed to meet Montville's attempt though to keep things even at the half.

The tied score did not last long in the second stanza as Chelsea Fallon's go five minutes out of the intermission put Suffolk in front, 2-1. Jazmya Harris started the play as she zoomed down the left-hand side of the pitch and took the ball deep to the end line. The Rams' rookie centered a pass, that was deflected by a bunch of Wentworth defenders. Lily Christian was there to pick up the pieces and rifled a hard shot on target. The ball was inches from going in, but hit the inside post instead. Luckily the rebound bounced right to Fallon, who was all by herself with an open net as Christian's shot drew Juliana Heaton out of position.

About 20 minutes later, the Rams extended the margin to two. Carley Pearce and Nicole Morin-Trotta did a little give-and-go work on the right side of the turf that resulted in a high and tight, opposite field goal for Morin-Trotta that gave the blue-and-gold a 3-1 advantage in the 69th minute.

To ensure the victory Klaudia Rushi etched her name in the scoresheet with 3:48 left in regulation with her second goal of the season. Pearce assisted on the goal that made the outing lopsided, 4-1.
