Women’s Soccer Picks Up 13th Straight United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Suffolk women's soccer has excelled academically since its inaugural season 15 years ago and last year was no different despite the challenges of a worldwide pandemic the Rams received the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the 13th year in a row, the national coach's organization announced. 

Suffolk was one of over 600 collegiate programs to reach the required team GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in 2020-21. The Rams have reached the feat each year dating back to 2008. For a full history of the award, click here.

Among the three divisions 624 teams – 231 men and 393 women -- took home the award with 104 institutions seeing both programs honored with Suffolk being one of them. The Rams were one of two Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) teams on the list joining the University of New England. 

Collectively, Ashley Van Vechten's squad combined for a 3.39 GA over 2020-21.

This year, Suffolk is in the midst of its 2021 campaign. Through seven games, all of which have been shutouts, the Rams boast a 5-2-0 overall record and turn their attention to Fisher, who is set to visit James A. Sartori Stadium at East Boston Memorial Park Thursday, Sept. 30 at 7 p.m.
