Harris Earns CCC Rookie of the Week

CCC RELEASE

BIDDEFORD, Maine – Jazmya Harris of the Suffolk women's soccer team picked up CCC Rookie of the Week honors after contributing a goal in each of the Rams' victories in 2-0-0 week, the league office announced Monday.

The freshman forward opened the week as one of four goal scorers in Suffolk's 6-0 offensive onslaught of Eastern Nazarene Tuesday, Sept. 21. Her marker helped the blue-and-gold set a program record for the most goals put away in a contest in the all-time series.

On Saturday, Sept. 25, she lifted the Rams to their first CCC victory, a 1-0 decision over Salve Regina. The East Providence, Rhode Island, native netted the lone goal of the day in the 69th minute to push blue-and-gold ahead.

Harris becomes the first Ram to take home a weekly accolade in the program's CCC era. Her first collegiate weekly nod marks the first time a Suffolk student-athlete grabbed a weekly accolade since Allison Rodrigues was named the GNAC's top Goalkeeper Sept. 16, 2019. Rookie wise, Harris is the first Ram first-year to be tabbed a league's best rookie over a seven-day stretch since Caleigh O'Brien garnered GNAC Corivas Rookie of the Week Sept. 18, 2017. The nod is the first rookie of the week in the Ashley Van Vechten era.

Suffolk and Harris will take a break from CCC competition this Thursday, Sept. 30 when it entertains Fisher in a make-up game at James A. Sartori Stadium at East Boston Memorial Park at 7 p.m.
