Women’s Soccer Shutouts Salve Regina, 1-0, for First CCC Win

EAST BOSTON – Suffolk women's soccer broke into the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) win column thanks to Jazmya Harris' game-winning goal late in the second half that pushed the Rams over Slave Regina, 1-0, Saturday afternoon at James A. Sartori Stadium at East Boston Memorial Park.

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 1 | Salve Regina 0
RECORDS: Suffolk (5-2-0, 1-1-0 CCC) | Salve Regina (4-5-0, 1-1-0 CCC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Allison Rodrigues was tested early as Emily Rio took a right-footed shot in the box that was turned aside by Allison Rodrigues. Her first of five stops of the day was the only action to take place until Aislinn Servaes broke free from the Salve Regina defense. The Rams' rookie was able to put an attempt on target from the center of the box, but Georgia Drake's glove gobbled up the shot to keep zeros on the score board.

Persistence paid off for Suffolk as it broke open the tie in the 69th minute. Harris sliced the ball to the bottom right corner of the net after a nifty give-and-go from Lily Christian to put away the rock on the left side and push the blue-and-gold ahead, 1-0.

Rodrigues came up big as the game went on especially in the 78th and 82nd minutes particularly. The Seahawks had good chances in each instance, but Suffolk's senior netminder kept the visitors off the board to ensure the program's first CCC victory.
