Women’s Soccer Picked Eighth in CCC Preseason Polls

CCC RELEASE

BIDDEFORD, Maine – Suffolk women's soccer made its debut in the Commonwealth Coast Conference Preseason Poll, which determines the predictions for the upcoming season based on a vote by the conference's 10 head coaches, in the eighth slot, the league announced Thursday afternoon.

With 35 points the Rams finished ahead of Wentworth (33) and Nichols (11).

Five different programs received at least one of the 10 first-place votes. Defending CCC Champion University of New England picked up a pair of first-place nods to earn top billing in the poll with 90 points. Gordon and Endicott each received three first-place picks. The Fighting Scots edged out the Gulls (81) for the second slot with 85 points, while the 2019 conference's runner-up rounds out the top three.

Roger Williams (78) and Curry (36) both received one first-place vote to book end spots four through seventh with Western New England (58) and Salve Regina (43) landing fifth and sixth, respectively.

Suffolk wrapped up its days in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) in 2019 with a 10-6-0 ledger and a conference tournament quarterfinal hosting rights. Eight of the team's 10 victories came in shutout fashion behind the gloves of Rams' Allison Rodrigues. The senior netminder will look to lead Ashley Van Vechten's squad into the new league era.

Action commences on the friendly pitch of James A. Sartori Stadium at East Boston Memorial Park with a matinee match against Elms Wednesday, Sept. 1.
