WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Alexandra Nagri scored her third goal of the afternoon to break a 3-all tie in the 65th minute as the Suffolk women's soccer team defeated the University of Saint Joseph, 4-3, Saturday afternoon in a GNAC contest.

Suffolk captured its second straight victory to improve to 2-6 overall and 1-1 in the GNAC, while St. Joseph fell to 2-4 overall and 1-1 in league play.

Sara Barnick started the scoring for USJ with an unassisted goal 13:59 in that she put under the crossbar from the top of the box. Jennifer Martin found the back of the net as the sophomore sent the rock to the top left corner of the goal from 10 yards out at 38:17 off a feed from Nagri to send the teams into the break locked at 1-1.

Both teams came out firing on all cylinders in the second half as five goals were scored over a 17-minute stretch. Nagri connected on a penalty kick at 47:05 and tallied her third score of the afternoon when she chipped a ball over a diving USJ goalkeeper Melissa Dodge. Martin had a hand on the goal to help the Rams take a 3-1 lead.

The Blue Jays scored the next two to pull even at 3-3. Morgan Skoly scored her team-leading third goal at 62:04 to bring USJ within 3-2. Lindsey Cifaldi scored the equalizer on a set piece after a Sara Barnick corner kick at 63:33.

Nagri then notched the game-winner – her fifth goal of the season – just 42 seconds later on an unassisted tally.

USJ outshot Suffolk, 23-8, including an edge in shots on goal, 14-6. The Blue Jays also held an advantage in corner kicks, 7-5.

Nagri is the first player in blue-and-gold to record a hat trick since Taylor Miranda '14  had one to her credit in a 5-0 shutout over Norwich in 2013. Kirsten Weiker made 11 saves in the victory.

Suffolk returns to action Tuesday, Sept. 22 in a 7 p.m. non-conference game at Eastern Nazarene.
