Albertus Wins Sixth Straight Over Suffolk, 6-0

The Albertus Magnus College Falcons recorded their sixth straight victory with a 6-0 win over the Suffolk University Rams in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Soccer action on Monday afternoon.

Sophomore Kelly Kennedy (North Branford, Conn.) netted a pair of goals, while senior Shelly Mirimina (Milford, Conn.) recorded three assists as the Falcons improve to a 10-3-2 overall mark on the year with a 4-2-1 record in GNAC play.

Albertus scored a pair of goals in the first half as senior Meaghan Skidmore (Terryville, Conn.) worked her with through the Suffolk defense with some nice indivudal moves for the game's first strike and her fourth goal of the season ten minutes into the contest. In the game's twentieth minute freshman Danielle Polvan (East Haven, Conn.) would convert a feed from Mirmina as the Falcon's built an early 2-0 lead.

Mirmina would also have a hand in each of the Falcons' next two goals. She helped set up senior Amanda Roke (Chesire, Conn.) just twenty-four seconds into the second half. Senior Jessica Radecki (Milford, Conn.) would knock in her first goal of the season at the 59-minute mark off a corner kick by Mirmina.

Kennedy would help close out the game giving the Falcons some insurance with two goals in a span of five minutes as she put in her first two goals on the year.

Sophomore Maria Case (West Haven, Conn.) stopped all nine shots she faced in goal on the afternoon for her seventh shutout of the season.

Sophomore Melissa Brouillette (Shelton, Conn.) made eight saves in goal for the Rams.

Sophomore Nicole Hunt (Weymouth, Mass.) put out five shots offensively for Suffolk who could not find the back of the net as they fall to a 5-8 overall mark on the year and 5-3 record in GNAC play.

Albertus held a 21-14 edge on shots in the contest.

Both teams will be back in GNAC action later this week. The Falcons are unable until Saturday as they will host Anna Maria College at 1:00pm. Suffolk will take on Lasell College on Thursday afternoon at 4:00pm at Dilboy Stadium.
