BOSTON – On a two-game win streak Suffolk women's hockey aims to take that winning momentum into its final full weekend of the regular season that features battles with Salve Regina and No. 11 Endicott. The Rams will test the Seahawks on the road Friday, Feb. 9 at 7:30 p.m., before hosting the nationally-ranked Gulls Saturday, Feb. 10 at 4:50 p.m. at Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink.

Hats came off for Kellie Popkin as she scored three goals to lead Suffolk women's hockey to a 4-1 Commonwealth Coast Conference victory over Nichols Saturday at Levy Rink.

SUFFOLK SCORES

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk women's hockey joined the CCC postseason conversation last weekend by defeating UNE (2-0) and Nichols (4-1) to move to 7-14-1 overall and 6-8-1 in league action.  

The foursome of Jenna Caballero (4g, 8a), Kellie Popkin (7g, 4a), Liliana Moose (2g, 8a) and Elise Wainwright(1g, 9a) have anchored Suffolk's 40-goal offense that has seen every skater produce at least one point this year.  

Lily O'Neil has played the bulk of action in between the pipes. The senior goalie boasts a 2.12 GAA and .928 save percentage in her 16 appearances, all starts. 

SEAHAWKS SAYINGS
Salve Regina fell to Curry (6-1) and Western New England (4-1) last weekend to dip to 10-9-3 overall and 7-7-1 in CCC play.  

The quartet of Gina Richard (13g, 5a), Emily Wroblewski (8g, 8a), Riley Esposito (5g, 8a) and Maddie Cox (2g, 8a) power the Seahawks 49-goal scoring unit. 

Sydney Baxter (2.67 GAA, .905 save%) has seen the most time in net for Salve Regina, however, Ellee Kopecky (2.27 GAA, .915 save%) and Livia Krzywulak (1.62 GAA, .927 save%) have played multiple games in between the pipes as well.  

WE MEET AGAIN
Salve Regina swept Suffolk in its CCC-opening weekend Nov. 3-4, 2023. The Seahawks blanked the Rams, 2-0, before handing the blue-and-gold a 4-3 setback.

RAMS REWIND vs. UNE
 

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Suffolk fell to Salve Regina for the first time in program-history earlier this year. 
  • The Rams are 6-2-0 all-time against the Seahawks. 
  • Four of the eight outings between the Rams and Seahawks have been shutouts. The last cleansheet came via a 2-0 Suffolk setback Nov. 3, 2023. 
  • The Rams are 3-1-0 in shutouts against Salve Regina. 
  • Suffolk is 3-1-0 at home and one the road versus the Seahawks. 
  • Suffolk has outscored Salve Regina, 23-10, all-time.

EYES ON THE GAME

GET TO KNOW THE GULLS
Endicott has not lost a game since Nov. 26, 2023. Thanks to its 11-game unbeaten streak, including seven straight victories, the Gulls head into the weekend, 15-4-2 overall and 12-2-0 versus CCC competition.  

Quin Healy (6g, 13a) and Rivers Morris (8g, 11a) share the top spot on the team with 19 points apiece. The pair are two of five players to surpass the double figure point plateau to lead the Gulls' 63-goal offense. Teaghan Hall (9g, 9a), Samantha Fantasia (9g, 8a) and Maggie Lynch (4g, 10a) are consistent contributors to the offensive attack. 

Casey Mortiz is the usual starting goalie for Endicott. Over 19 games, all starts, she has built a 1.53 GAA with a .938 save percentage.  

WE MEET AGAIN
Endicott topped Suffolk in a home-and-home series Nov. 17-18, 2023. The Gulls defeated the Rams, 6-2, before blanking the blue-and-gold, 1-0, the following night.

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Suffolk is 3-10-0 all-time against Endicott.

RAMS RECOGNITION
Suffolk women's hockey's Lily O'Neil and Alessia Di Silvestro garnered weekly awards from the Commonwealth Coast Conference after helping the Rams to a 2-0-0 league weekend. O'Neil was named CCC Goaltender of the Week and Di Silvestro picked up CCC Rookie of the Week.
