Women’s Hockey Snaps Skid with 4-0 Shutout at Curry

CANTON, Mass. – Suffolk women's hockey returned to the win column in convincing fashion as four different Rams scored and Lily O'Neil stopped 29 shots to blank Curry, 4-0, Friday night at the Canton Ice House.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Jenna Caballero was the first Ram to find the back of the net as the sophomore used set-ups from Leslie Steiner and Kellie Popkin 7:06 into the action.  

Suffolk put the game away in the middle period with three strikes in a just under a seven-minute span.  

Bella Schmidt got the scoring going 3:49 in the second on a feed from Anya NichiporKatie Newkirk and Liliana Moose teamed up on the power play at the 10:05 mark. The former scored, while the latter assisted. The blue-and-gold's scoring frenzy wrapped up 30 seconds later when Nichipor netted her third goal of the season. Aiden Levee-Oshiro and Schmidt helped in the goal.  

NETMINDER NOTES

  • O'Neil recorded 29 saves in the shutout. 
  • Soleil Archambeault notched 35 saves in the setback.  

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING

  • Nichipor and Schmidt had identical one-goal, one-assist, two-point stat lines. 
  • Caballero and Newkirk chipped in one goal each. 
  • Popkin, Steiner, Moose and Levee-Oshiro had one assist apiece.
  • Suffolk outshot Curry, 39-29. 
  • Face offs were even at 27-all. 
  • The Rams went 1-for-4 on the power play and successfully skated off all four of their penalties. 

NOTEWORTHY

  • Half (2) of Suffolk's wins this season have come via shutout. 
  • Suffolk improved to 7-1-0 all-time against Curry. 
  • The Rams defeated the Colonels for the fourth straight meeting. 
  • The Rams have outscored the Colonels, 43-12 all-time. 
  • Suffolk shutout Curry for the first time in program history. 
  • The Rams have defeated Curry by four-goal margins in back-to-back meetings. 
  • O'Neil registered her second cleansheet of the season and sixth of her collegiate career.
