Endicott Edges Women’s Hockey, 1-0

EAST BOSTON – A goal by Endicott with under three minutes remaining broke up scoreless action and allowed the Gulls to slip past Suffolk women's hockey, 1-0, Saturday night in CCC action at Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 0 | Endicott 1
RECORDS: Suffolk (2-6-0, 2-4-0 CCC) | Endicott (6-2-0, 4-2-0 CCC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
In one of the tightest battles this season to date the deciding factor came in the final three minutes of regulation. Teaghan Hall picked up the puck deep in the Gulls zone after Elise Wainwright's breakaway was denied. Quin picked up the pass from Hall and flipped the puck to a wide-open Rivers Morris in the neutral zone. On a one-on-one with Izzy Buckett, Morris faked glove side to stun Buckett and easily taped the puck in stick side to put the first strike on the board at the 17:07 mark of the third.

Suffolk had little time to catch up. Leslie Steiner did manage to get a shot on target, but Casey Moritz denied the attempt to secure the win for the Gulls.

NETMINDER NOTES

  • Buckett compiled a 32-save effort in the setback.
  • Moritz put together a 19-save shutout.
