EAST BOSTON – Suffolk women's hockey landed on the wrong side of a 2-0 decision as the Rams fell to Salve Regina in their Commonwealth Coast Conference opener Friday night at Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink

HOW IT HAPPENED
Salve Regina scored once in the first two periods to put Suffolk in a 2-0 hole.  

The Rams commanded the third period, outshooting the Seahawks, 10-3, but remained in the two-goal deficit. 

With 2:29 left in regulation, first-year head coach Abby Ostrom called her team over to talk things out. Out of the timeout, Izzy Buckett left her post between the net. The blue-and-gold was unable to capitalize with the extra skater despite getting four shots off, one of which was on target.  

NETMINDER NOTES

  • Buckett registered 18 saves in net. 
  • Sydney Baxter had a 30-save shutout. 

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING

  • Suffolk outshot Salve Regina, 30-20. 
  • The Rams skated off their four penalty kills, however, they could not take advantage of their own four power plays.
  • Salve Regina held a 24-23 edge at the face off dot.  

NOTEWORTHY

  • Four of the seven outings between the Rama and Seahawks have been shutouts. 
  • The blue-and-gold played Salve Regina in the CCC opener for the second straight season. 
  • The Rams played at their home in their first CCC game of the year for the third time, first since 2021-22. 
  • Suffolk's CCC opener has ended in a shutout three times including tonight.
