UTICA, N.Y. – Suffolk women's hockey fell in the consolation contest of the Utica Kick-Off Tournament to No. 12 Elmira Saturday at the Nexus Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Soaring Eagles scored three in the first to force Suffolk to play catch-up from the get-go. 

Elmira added to its edge with one goal in the second and another in the third. 

Suffolk was unable to figure the Soaring Eagles netminder Leonie Kuehberger throughout the entirety of the contest for the 5-0 final. 

NETMINDER NOTES

  • Izzy Buckett registered 42 saves. 
  • Kuehberger finished with 15 stops in the shutout. 

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING

  • Elmira outshot Suffolk, 47-15. 
  • The Rams skated off their lone penalty and was unable to take advantage of their five power play opportunities. 
  • The Soaring Eagles won the face off battle, 28-24. 

NOTEWORTHY

  • Suffolk and Elmira met for the first time. 
  • Bucketts made her Suffolk debut in net.  

WHAT'S NEXT?
The Rams return to New England next weekend where they will lift the lid on their Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) calendar with a home-and-home series versus Salve Regina. Suffolk will first host the Seahawks at Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink Friday, Nov. 3 at 6 p.m., before heading down to Middletown, Rhode Island, Saturday, Nov. 4 for a 7 p.m. showdown.
