No. 4 Amherst Stops Women’s Hockey, 2-0

EAST BOSTON – In its final non-conference action of the 2022-23 regular-season campaign, Suffolk women's hockey fell to No. 4 Amherst, 2-0, Monday night at Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink.

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 0 | No. 4 Amherst 2
RECORDS: Suffolk (15-7-2) | No. 4 Amherst (20-2-0)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Each side had eight shots on target over the first frame, all of which were denied by the respective netminders to keep zeros on the board.

The Mammoths capitalized on their first power play of the day when Rylee Glennon tucked in Leslie Schwartz rebound 8:05 into the middle period to give Amherst a one-goal edge.

Suffolk backed Lily O'Neil up the rest of the second stanza to keep the one-goal gap in store when the teams headed into the locker room for the second time.

The blue-and-gold's defense continued to keep the Rams in the game throughout the third period. With Amherst clinging to the one-goal lead, O'Neil skated to the bench with 56 seconds to go in regulation.

Suffolk was unable to get a shot off with the extra skater though and Glennon intercepted a pass in the neutral zone and easily tucked it away to double the distance with 31 seconds left on the clock and the Rams ran out of time to find their way on the board.
