Women’s Hockey Blanks Salve Regina in Road Finale, 4-0

MIDDLETOWN, R.I. – Exactly a week after keeping Salve Regina off the scoreboard for the first time in program history, the Suffolk women's hockey team repeated the performance. Hannah Gordon picked up 22 saves and the blue-and-gold's offense scored three times on the power play to shutout the Seahawks, 4-0, in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) battle at Howard Rink at the St. George's School.

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 4 | Salve Regina 0
RECORDS: Suffolk (18-4-0, 13-3-0 CCC) | Salve Regina (5-13-3, 4-9-3 CCC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
After a scoreless first, Suffolk went off in the second with three unanswered goals. The Rams got going at the 6:20 mark thanks to Shana Cote. The senior lofted a puck from just outside the right face-off dot and into the top left side of the net to give the visitors an edge. Sofia Scilipoti slipped the pass to Cote and Madison Duff aided in the game-opening goal as well.

Cote chipped in her second goal of the day nearly 10 minutes later. This time, the captain poked the puck away right off the face-off that was won by Julia Volpe just 25 seconds after the Rams went on the power play as Tori Amaral went to the box for tripping.

Suffolk capitalized on another power play, this time a 5-on-3 as two Seahawks sat down at the same time. Duff tucked a goal 1:08 before the second intermission on a feed from Jesse Kenendy to make it a 3-0 margin in the Rams' favor.

Just over five minutes into the final frame the Rams notched their third man-up marker. Kennedy picked up the pieces of Julia Franklin's rebound and slipped the puck past the goal line to extend the Rams cushion to four. Stpehanie Moy helped set up the shot from the blue line.
