Women’s Hockey Scores Program Record in 10-3 Victory Over Curry

EAST BOSTON, Mass. – A bakers' dozen Rams produced at least one point as Suffolk women's hockey reset its goals scored record in a 10-3 pouncing of Curry in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Saturday at Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink.

THE BASICS

RECORDS: Suffolk (6-0-0, 2-0-0 CCC) | Curry (1-5-0, 1-3-0 CCC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
It was all Suffolk in the first 20 minutes as the blue-and-gold built a 3-0 lead. Julia Franklin got the goals going 2:08 into the action. Seniors Payton Dockus and Shana Cote assisted on the game opening goal.

Just under five minutes later Maddy Burton put the puck away six seconds into the power play with help from Cassidy Gruning and Julia Franklin, who won the face-off, to double the distance.

Nearly five more minutes went by until Sofia Scilipoti joined Suffolk's scorers. The junior tucked in a wrap-around set up by Franklin for the three-goal edge. Cote aided in the marker that helped send Suffolk into the break ahead.

The Rams kept rolling in the second stanza. Special teams played a factor yet again, this time though, Suffolk scored with a skater-down. Jesse Kennedy won a puck on along the boards took it into the Colonels zone, beat one Curry defender, tricked another and flipped it past Anna Langton to push matters to 4-0 Rams 5:46 out of the locker rooms.

Curry erased the shutout with a short-handed strike of its own at the midway point. Similar to Suffolk's tally, Ali Olroenshaw won a puck in the neutral zone, zoomed past blue-and-gold skaters for a one-on-one with Julia McLellan. Froom the right side, she sniped one over McLellan's stick side shoulder to trim the gap back to three, 4-1, with 10:04 left in the middle period.

Three minutes later the Colonels got another one back this time Grayson Goolgasian mirrored Scilipoti's wrap-around goal in the first to slice the margin two a pair of pucks, 4-2.

The Rams righted both those wrongs with a pair of unanswered goals of their own. Emily Bozzi tipped in a slap shot from Stephanie Moy on the power play at the 15:27 minute mark and 36 seconds later Bella Kaczorowksi found the back of the net to restore the four-goal distance, which stood at the second break.
