Scilipoti Grabs CCC Player and Rookie of the Week

CCC RELEASE

BIDDEFORD, Maine – Sofia Scilipoti of the Suffolk women's hockey team collected both Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Player and Rookie of the Week status after skating to a five-point performance over a 2-0-0 weekend of the Rams, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

With the recognition, Suffolk owns both of not only the CCC Player of the Week nods this season, but in the league's history, as Shana Cote was the conference's inaugural best player over a seven-day stretch a week ago, Nov. 1. When combined, the Rams have three weekly nods in 2021-22.

Scilipoti, who joined Cote as the only two Suffolk skaters to be honored as a conference's player of the week in the program's record book, is the first Rams' rookie to garner a rookie of the week accolade since Madison Ricardo did so Dec. 16, 2019. She is the first player in the program's annals to pick up a pair of weekly honors the same week.

The Toronto, Ontario was a crucial ingredient to not only Suffolk's first home-and-home game win, but a series sweep, as the Rams defeated Worcester State in back-to-back battles to start the year 4-0-0.

At Worcester State Friday, Nov. 5, the forward put together her a second straight three-point game. This time though she netted a career-best two goals to go along with one assist to aid to the 4-2 win over the Lancers. She followed the next day, the forward potted one puck and assisted on another goal to assist in the 5-1 victory against Worcester State.

Scilipoti added a spark to Suffolk's line-up this season with at least one point in all four games. The junior currently sits second on the squad in points (9) and goals (5), respectively, and to share team top numbers in assists with four along with Cote and Madison Duff

Scilipoti and Suffolk are back in action this weekend when they begin their CCC calendar in a home-and-home series with Curry. The Rams visit the Colonels Friday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m., before hosting the rematch the next day, Saturday, Nov. 13 at 4:50 p.m. at Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink.
