Women’s Hockey Wins Fourth Straight Downs Worcester State, 5-1

EAST BOSTON – Suffolk women's hockey rattled off its fourth consecutive victory with a 5-1 decision over Worcester State Saturday night at Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink.

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 5 | Worcester State 1
RECORDS: Suffolk (4-0-0) | Worcester State (2-2-0)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Suffolk went on the penalty kill early on as Jesse Kennedy was whistled for holding 45 seconds out of the gate. The Rams successful played with a skater down and burst into even strength play as the first goal of the day came six seconds after the Leopards' power play expired. Sofia Scilipoti put away the puck with aid from Madison Ricardo and Shana Cote at the 2:51 minute mark to give the host a 1-0 lead it held onto at the first intermission.

Worcester State leveled the playing field on the power play 13:36 into the second stanza. The Rams righted that wrong 1:05 later as Cote put away Scilipoti's set-up to regain the advantage for the blue-and-gold, one it took back into the locker room.

Insurance came for the Rams 1:52 into the third as Sydney Tietz lit the lamp with help from Vanessa Stuart and Cassidy Gruning. Less than three minutes later Maddy Burton extended matters even further with a power player marker on a feed from Duff.

Just under four minutes later Burton tacked on her second tally of the night to put the game out of reach for the Lancers. Payton Dockus and Kennedy supported the graduate student's strike that turned it into a 5-1 Suffolk score at the 8:27-minute mark of the third.
