Women’s Golf Shoots 18-Hole Scoring Record to Wrap Up Polar Bear Shootout

BRUNSWICK, Maine – Suffolk women's golf opened its 2023 campaign in record-setting fashion as the Rams shot a program-record on the second day of action at the Polar Bear Shootout at Brunswick Golf Club to claim sixth in the eight-team field.  

Suffolk started the two-day tournament with a 349 to hold seventh place with Saturday's scores record. On Sunday, the Rams shaved 19 strokes off their team card for a 330, a Rams 18-hole record. When combined the blue-and-gold finished with 679 to take sixth, just one stroke behind Babson. 

Wellesley's two teams finished first and second with Bates rounding out the top three.  

Ellie Yarbrough took 12th in the 46-golfer field. The senior improved her day one score of 85 by six strokes to finish with a 164. 

Yarbrough's co-captain Isabel Smith was one stroke behind to share 13th, while Sophie Kiley, who rounds out the tri-captains, claimed 21st with a 169. 

In her Suffolk debut, sophomore Ella Torsleff tied for 38th with a card of 181.  

The Rams will be back in action this weekend, Sept. 16-17 at the Ithaca Invitational at the RaNic Golf Club.
