Women’s Golf Finishes in Middle of Pack at Cortaca Northeast Invitational

CORTLAND, N.Y. – Suffolk women's golf turned in a sixth-place performance at the two-day Cortaca Northeast Invitational over the weekend in upstate New York. 

The tournament, which was played on two different courses, the RaNic Golf Club on Saturday and the Cortland Country Club Sunday, was won by Hamilton's card of 635. Suffolk meanwhile combined for a 740 to take sixth overall in the field of 10.  

Ellie Yarbrough paced the Rams with a 163 to take 12th in the field of 59. The sophomore shot an 82 on day one and shaved one stroke off that on the second day of action. 

Isabel Smith's 178 was good for 31st overall, while Madison Scheinberg finished 10 spots behind in 41st with a two-day score of 189.  

Sophie Kiley rounded out Suffolk student-athletes on the course with a 210, good for 52nd.  

Suffolk has a head-to-head with Westfield State on tap for next Sunday, Oct. 3 at the Shaker Farms Country Club in Westfield, Mass.
