Smith Named First NWGC Player of the Week of 2021-22

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Suffolk women's golf sophomore Isabel Smith has been selected the first Northeast Women's Golf Player of the Week for the 2021-22 campaign, the league office announced. The Rams' sophomore earned the recognition for her performance in events held Sept. 1-12.

Smith, who hails from Westford, Massachusetts, tied for 25th at the Hamilton Invitational held at the Yahnundasis Golf Club in new Hartford, New York Sept. 11-23. She shared 2th in the 90-golfer field behind a card of 165, shaving three strokes off her day one score of 84 to complete the course with a +19. 

Smith is the second-ever Suffolk student-athlete to take home a weekly award, first since Brooke Chapman earned the program's inaugural honor with the league's player of the week status from Oct. 23, 2019. 

Smith and the Rams will return to action this weekend at the Cortaca Northeast Invitational. Saturday, Sept. 25 sends Suffolk to the Cortland Country Club in Cortland, New York, with day two action wrapping up at the Country Club of Ithaca in Ithaca, New York.
