BOSTON – Suffolk women's golf caps off its 2021 campaign with a pair of head-to-head matches over the Weekend. The Rams will battle SUNY Cortland Saturday, May 1 at the Edison Club in Redrod, New York, before returning to the Bay State for an outing against Worcester State Sunday, May 2 at the Blackstone National Golf Club in Sutton, Massachusetts.

LAST TIME OUT
Suffolk women's golf secured second place at the NWGC Championships Sunday at the Colonie Country Club.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk has had a limited spring slate with just one head-to-head match against Husson, which the Rams won 372-477, April 10 and the NWGC Championships last Saturday.

Individually, freshmen Ellie Yarbrough and Isabel Smith are making the most of their first collegiate seasons as the pair picked up All-NWGC accolades alongside senior captain Nicole Antonucci.

RED DRAGONS REVIEW
SUNY Cortland has a touch more outings under its belt with six matches including last weekend's NWGC Championships, which the Red Dragons won. 

Danielle Bambola, the NWGC Individual Champion, led Cortland to its conference title repeat as she repeated as the individual medalist as well. Alivia Waldron is also a standout for the Red Dragon as she scooped up an all-league nod as well with a share for sixth place at the conference tournament.

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Although Suffolk and SUNY Cortland have met many times at tournaments, the foes will battle head-to-head for the first time. 

THE COURSE – EDISON CLUB
The Edison Club golf course was laid out in 1926 by the legendary Devereux Emmet, whose other creations include Congressional Country Club, host to three U.S. Opens and a PGA Championship.

LANCERS LOOK
Worcester State's lone match in 2021 will take place against Suffolk Sunday, May 2. Sunday's showdown marks the first true team match for WSU since it battled Rhode Island in head-to-head outing Oct. 14, 2018.

A year ago, the Lancers competed as the NEIGA Championships where Courtney Prescott, Lyle dela Cruz and Lindsey Guittarr participated as individuals. Back on the roster this year is Lyle dela Cruz and Guitarr.
