Meghan Foley joined the Suffolk Athletics department in January 2021 as a graduate assistant, where she will work in athletic operations. In addition, she has joined Ed Leyden’s coaching staff as a women’s basketball GA.

Foley brings a knowledge of the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) to Beacon Hill as a four-year letterwinner and two-year captain at Gordon. Her playing days resume with the Fighting Scots is lengthy and is highlighted by the 2019-20 CCC Player of the Year title. The 1,000-point scorer’s senior season also saw the guard gain second-team all-region honors by D3Hoop.scom and New England Women’s Basketball Association (NEWBA) honors and a first-team all-conference nod.

Foley's first season at Suffolk was less than traditional with the conference calendar suspended due to the global COVID-19 pandemic and the team limited to just eight outings. The first-year coach helped the Rams go 7-1 in those outings though and saw Jenni-Rose DiCecco take her place as the blue-and-gold's all-time leader in assists and steals.

Fresh off the court from the Rams’ CCCC counterpart Gordon, Foley will bring a fresh players perspective and wealth of conference knowledge to a well-balanced coaching staff. Her coaching aspirations grew at the prestigious “So You Want to be a Coach” program put on by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA). The annual event, which selects 60 participants across the three NCAA divisions, increases the understanding and application skills necessary to secure coaching positions in women’s basketball. Participations were selected based on academics, contributions to women’s basketball on and off the court, professional resume and a written recommendation from her head coach.

Similar to her on-court resume, Foley’s off-court qualifications rank high as well. Her experiences in the collegiate operational side of things range from working on Gordon’s Athletic Communications staff where she aided in the livestreaming of events, in-game statistics, graphics, game-day program production, release and management of the game-day workers.

Additionally, Foley interned in Hamilton-Wenham’s Athletic Department over the summer of 2019. During her time with HWRHS she observed numerous jobs, aided in various game-day operations and worked underneath the Athletic Director in budget management and coaches’ evaluations.

Away from the sports industry, Foley has spent time volunteering, highlighted by a pair of Mission Trips to Belize. Over 10 days in the Caribbean she refurbished houses, as well as, created lessons and activities for children.

The 2020 graduate of Gordon with a Bachelor of Science in Recreation, Sport and Wellness, is currently working towards her Masters of Education in Administration of Higher Education.
