    Suffolk women’s basketball’s Amanda DeAngelis and Lauren Romito have been named participants to represents the Rams at the 2024 New England Women’s Basketball Association (NEWBA) Senior All-Star Classic Game, the organization announced. The pair will put on blue-and-gold this Sunday, March 24 at Tufts’ Cousens Gymnasium at 1 p.m.

  • DeAngelis, Romito Earn Major CCC Awards

    Suffolk women’s basketball’s Amanda DeAngelis and Lauren Romito headlined the 2024 Commonwealth Coast Conference postseason awards. DeAngelis was tabbed CCC Player of the Year and Romito took home CCC Defensive Player of the Year honors after guiding the blue-and-gold to the CCC Semifinals this season. In addition to the major awards, DeAngelis scooped up a first-team nod and Romito was recognized with a spot on the second team, the league office announced Thursday morning.

    Amanda DeAngelis and Lauren Romito were responsible for 59 percent of the Rams offensive output to anchor Suffolk women’s basketball to a 76-66 win over Curry Saturday afternoon at Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court. The upperclassmen twosome scored 45 of the blue-and-gold’s 76 total points, including 15 of the 25 in the fourth quarter.

    A sluggish start to the fourth quarter cost the Rams a crucial Commonwealth Coast Conference setback as Suffolk women’s basketball team fell to the University of New England, 69-61, Wednesday night at Harold Alfond Forum. The Nor’Easters outscored the blue-and-gold 18-13 in the final 10 minutes to end Suffolk’s seven-game win streak.

    Out of a 63-all tie to start the fourth quarter Suffolk women’s basketball outscored Nichols, 25-16, to take down the Bison, 88-79 in Commonwealth Coast Conference action at the Nichols Athletic Center Saturday afternoon. The victory is the Rams seventh in a row, the longest win streak since stringing 10 victories together Nov. 27, 2017-Jan. 25, 2018.

    In the first-ever meeting between Suffolk women’s basketball and Hartford at Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court, Amanda DeAngelis led the Rams past the Hawks, 72-62, in a contest that featured 13 lead changes and six ties. DeAngelis finished with a game-high 27 points to pace the blue-and-gold’s offensive output Tuesday night.

The senior captain was selected to the second team after she anchored the Rams to a 2-0 week with 18.0 points and 13.0 rebounds per game.

DeAngelis shares the weekly distinction with Western New England’s Emma Novajasky.
