BIDDEFORD, Maine – Suffolk women's basketball clinched a spot in the 2023 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Tournament as the league announced the Rams are the seventh seed in the eight-team bracket.

Suffolk will make its second straight trip to the CCC postseason and the programs 27th consecutive league playoff push, all of which have come under head coach Ed Leyden. The Rams are in the hunt for their first conference crown in program history.

The Rams head into the CCC field as the seventh seed for the first time. The ranking comes after the blue-and-gold compiled a 13-12 league ledger behind a young nine-player roster comprised of just two upperclassmen – graduate student Katie Kirsch and junior Amanda DeAngelis and seven underclassmen including four true rookies.

As the seventh seed, Suffolk will trek to the second-seeded Nor'Easters of the University of New England for the quarterfinals Tuesday, Feb. 21.

In the regular-season, Suffolk and UNE split the meetings. The Rams fell in Biddeford, Maine, 86-73, Jan. 18, before closing out the regular-season in Boston with a 62-59 triumph over the Nor'Easters Saturday, Feb. 18, which was the blue-and-gold's first-ever win over the University of New England. The foes will battle in the postseason for the first time. The blue-and-gold captured its first win

In its 26 tournament appearances, Suffolk has moved onto the semifinal a dozen times and competed in the championship first. The Rams, however, have yet to advance in the CCC Tournament.

The winner of Tuesday's tilt will punch its ticket to the semifinals where it will face the victor of No. 3 Gordon versus No. 6 Endicott Thursday, Feb. 23.
