Women's Basketball Announces Sue Rae '81 Heart and Soul Award

BOSTON - Suffolk University Athletics is proud to announce the creation of the Sue Rae '81 Heart and Soul Award. Created through the generous support of Suffolk Alumni, the award recognizes Sue Rae, Class of 1981, a founding member of the Suffolk Women's Basketball program who passed away in 2021.

"Sue was truly the heart of the women's basketball program," said teammate Elaine Buckley, BS '84."Her enthusiasm and commitment to Suffolk, the team and her teammates bound us all together. We are proud to support Suffolk Women's Basketball and recognize a current player who brings that same spirit to the team."

Director of Athletics Cary McConnell added, "We are so pleased that several loyal and generous alums of the women's basketball program have decided to pay tribute to Sue Rae's memory by establishing and funding this award that will be presented annually to an outstanding student athlete."

The award will be selected by the coaching staff every year and be presented in front of Ram Nation. The inaugural presentation of the award will be on on the Rams' Senior Day, Saturday, Feb. 18 during a pregame ceremony when the blue-and-gold hosts the Univeresity of New England in the regular-season finale at Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court at 1:00 p.m.
