Women’s Basketball Clips Curry, 60-51, to End Road Swing

MILTON, Mass. – A trio of Rams produced double figures to help Suffolk women's basketball wrap up its three-game road trip with a 60-51 triumph over Curry Tuesday night at Katz Gymnasium. Amanda DeAngelis led the way with a game-high 18 points, while Colby Guinta and Madi Mahoney chipped in 12 points and 10 points, respectively, to the blue-and-gold's winning effort.

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 60 | Curry 51
RECORDS: Suffolk (12-10, 7-8 CCC) | Curry (6-16, 2-13 CCC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Suffolk put the first seven points on the board, three from DeAngelis followed by back-to-back buckets from Maddie Stewart to clinch onto the lead three minutes into play. That gap grew double figures, 16-5, with 4:09 to go in the first frame.

The Colonels charged back with eight straight points to make it a one-possession game, 16-13, before Katie Kirsch turned in a pair of freebies to end the opening quarter, which put Suffolk ahead 18-13.

That five-point margin remained in the Rams' favor, 29-24, at the end of the second stanza as back-and-forth action consumed the quarter before the teams headed to the locker rooms.

Suffolk nearly doubled Curry's offensive output in the third quarter. The Colonels were limited to just nine, while the Rams put up 16, seven of which came from Mahoney, to build a 45-33 advantage.

That cushion grew to as many as 15, 48-33, with 8:42 left on the clock, however, the host attempted to make a comeback. Curry clawed its way back to within five points, 54-49, at the 2:33 mark.

From there, the Rams used composure at the free throw line to stay in front and hold on for the win.
