DeAngelis Secures Spot on NEWBA Weekly Second-Team

BOSTON – Amanda DeAngelis of the Suffolk women's basketball team was selected to the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) weekly second-team after averaging 19.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.0 assist sand 2.0 steals last week for the Rams, the regional organization announced. 

The junior forward from Londonderry, New Hampshire, produced 27 points on a 10-for-16 showing from the floor and a 6-for-6 effort at the line to go along with five rebounds, two assists and three steals in the midweek match at the University of New England. Three days later, she compiled an 11-point, 14-rebound double-double with two dimes, one block and one takeaway to her credit.  

DeAngelis has been recognized by the NEWBA three times this season with a pair of NEWBA weekly first-team selections Nov. 23 and Jan. 11, respectively. Overall, she owns five weekly awards this year with two Commonwealth Coast Conference Player of the Week distinctions Nov. 23 and Jan. 9, respectively. 

On top of DeAngelis five honors, Colby Guinta has five weekly accolades on her resume this season as well, three CCC Rookie of the Week nods and two NEWBA Rookie of the Week accolades.  

Suffolk will be back at Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court Saturday, Jan. 28 when it welcomes Wentworth for an 11 a.m. CCC matchup.
