DeAngelis Grabs CCC Player of the Week

BIDDEFORD, Maine – Suffolk women's basketball's Amanda DeAngelis averaged a double-double of 21.7 points and 12.3 rebounds per game, while shooting 46.9 percent in a 3-0 week for the Rams en route to Commonwealth Coast Conference Player of the week, the league office announced Monday. 

The junior captain opened the week Tuesday with 18 points and 13 caroms in a 55-50 road win at Wentworth. Two days later, she matched a career-high offensive output of 29 points to go along with 12 boards in a 72-63 victory over Nichols. The Londonderry, New Hampshire product wrapped up the week with 18 points and 12 rebounds in a 67-55 triumph over Curry.  

DeAngelis now owns three weekly awards this year, two from the CCC. In addition to today's distinction, she was tabbed the conference's best player over a seven-day stretch Nov. 21, and earned spot on the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA). Weekly First-Team Nov. 23. Overall, Suffolk has eight weekly accolades this year as Colby Guinta holds five on her trophy shelf, three from the CCC, all rookie of the week nods, and two NEWBA Rookie of the Weeks.

DeAngelis and the Rams will be back in action tomorrow, Tuesday, Jan. 10 when Salve Regina stops by Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court for a 5:30 p.m. CCC clash.
