BIDDEFORD, Maine – Suffolk women's basketball's Colby Guinta closed out the 2022 fall semester with another weekly award as the freshman took home Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Rookie of the Week after averaging 11.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists in a two-game week for the Rams.
Guinta, a freshman from Manchester, New Hampshire, opened the week with a 15-point, five-board, a two-handout stat line in a CCC clash against Roger Williams. At Clark, the swing player contributed seven points, five caroms and three dimes. She had six buckets from 3-point range on the week and shot 42.9 percent from beyond-the-arc.
The weekly recognition marks Guinta's fifth of the season, three of which have been handed out from the CCC with the two others coming from the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA). Overall, Suffolk has seen two players combine for seven weekly awards this season. In addition to Guinta's five, Amanda DeAngelis has two to her credit, a CCC Player of the Week Nov. 21, and a spot on the NEWBA Weekly First-Team Nov. 23.
Guinta and the Rams are sidelined until after the holidays. Suffolk returns to action Tuesday, Jan. 3 with a CCC clash at Wentworth at 5:30 p.m.
