DeAngelis Named to NEWBA Weekly First-Team

NEWBA RELEASE

BOSTON – Amanda DeAngelis of the Suffolk women's basketball team garnered a spot on the New England Women's Basketball Association weekly first team, the region association announced after averaging 18.3 points and 9.7 rebounds per game in a 3-0 week for the Rams.

The forward from Londonderry, New Hampshire, opened the week with a 20-point, 13-rebound double-double in a convincing 71-54 win over Salem State. Two days later in a 83-64 triumph at Emerson, she racked up 12 points, eight caroms, three takeaways and one swat. To wrap up the hectic stretch, she compiled a 23-point offensive output that went along with an eight-rebound effort in a 77-73 decision against Eastern Nazarene.

The weekly accolade is DeAngelis' second of the season as she claimed Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Player of the Week Nov. 21. She is the first Suffolk student-athlete to be recognized by the NEWBA with a weekly accolade since she herself did so with NEWBA Player of the Week Jan. 11, 2022.

DeAngelis and Suffolk took the weekend off for Thanksgiving and are set to be back in action Wednesday, Nov. 30 when it lifts the lid on its Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) campaign against Western New England at Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court at 5:30 p.m.
