Women’s Basketball Slotted Seventh in CCC Preseason Poll

CCC RELEASE

BIDDEFORD, Maine – Suffolk women's basketball has been predicted to finish seventh in the 10-team Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), per the league's preseason coaches poll released Wednesday.

Entering the 29th season in the Ed Leyden era, the Rams received 44 points to slid into seventh ahead of Nichols (39), Curry (19) and Wentworth (16).

Roger Williams was a unanimous choice to repeat as CCC Championships with all 10 of the first-place votes for 100 points.

CCC Tournament runner-up Endicott landed in second in this year poll with 83 points with the University of New England checking in at No. 3 three points behind the Gulls.

Western New England and Gordon completed the top-five in this year's ledger with the Golden Bears earning 71 points for fourth place and the Fighting Scots landing fifth with 50.

Salve Regina preceded Suffolk in sixth with 48 points.

Preseason projections have yet to slow Suffolk down from making a postseason tournament as the blue-and-gold made its first-ever trip to the CCC postseason a year ago, making its 26th consecutive campaign with a league tournament trip.

The Rams will have their work cut out as the entire starting five from last year's team that went 18-8 overall and 12-6 in CCC contests graduated. Back in blue-and-gold looking to lead the way is Amanda DeAngelis, who is coming off a 10.7 points and 7.0 rebounds per game effort as a sophomore.

Suffolk's 40th season is set to set to get underway Thursday, Nov. 10 when Bridgewater State stops by Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court for a 7 p.m. outing.
