Women’s Basketball Season Ends in CCC Quarterfinals to Gordon

BOSTON – Suffolk women's basketball did not have what it took to advance in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) playoffs as the fourth-seeded Rams were stunned by the fifth-seeded Fighting Scots of Gordon, 69-57, in the quarterfinal Tuesday night at Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 57 | Gordon 69
RECORDS: Suffolk (18-8) | Gordon (12-13)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Suffolk struggled from the get go as it only hit one field goal in the first 10 minutes and that bucket came was time expired on a last-minute effort from Jenni-Rose DiCecco from way downtown. Despite the scoring lull, the Rams still remained in the hunt at the end of the first frame, 13-5.

Just 1:44 into the second, the blue-and-gold attempted a bit of a run and trimmed the gap down to five, 17-12. Suffolk's offense faded as the host put up just five more points over the final eight minutes of the second quarter, while Gordon continued its hot pace to send the Rams into the locker room down 14, 31-17.

The damage continued to pile up for the Rams to open the third as they found themselves in a 20-plus point hole. For every comeback attempt Suffolk made, whether a full-court press or quick hoops, Gordon had an answer, which allowed the upset to play out in the Fighting Scots favor.
