Women’s Basketball Pounces Wentworth, 87-44

BOSTON – Suffolk women's basketball used a monster opening quarter and coasted the rest of the way to an 87-44 victory over Wentworth in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) clash at Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court Thursday night.

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 87 | Wentworth 44
RECORDS: Suffolk (15-6, 9-5 CCC) | Wentworth (3-17, 1-13 CCC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
After back-and-forth action that opened the game and put Suffolk in front, 8-7, the Rams took control from there. The blue-and-gold would outscore the Leopards 27-3 over the final seven minutes of the first frame to take a 35-10 advantage.

Turnovers plagued both sides in the second. Suffolk still managed to outscore Wentworth once again to build a 30-point cushion, 51-21, at the intermission.

The Rams did not let up in the third. The host continued to play the passing lanes, which limited the Leopards to scoring just nine points in the third set of 10 minutes. Defense helped Suffolk's offense stretch the margin to 68-30.

Wentworth played evenly with Suffolk in the final frame, but thanks to the Rams large lead heading into the fourth the blue-and-gold easily walked away with the win.
