FITCHBURG, Mass. – Suffolk women's basketball put on a shooting clinic as it flew past Fitchburg State, 87-27, Tuesday night at Parkinson Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Suffolk scored and scored often in the first five minutes to go ahead 12-0. That early edge expanded to a 21-6 gap at the end of the first 10 minutes. Amanda DeAngelis was the key factor in the opening quarter as she contributed a personal-best 12 points.  

The second stanza was similar to the first as all the scoring in the first five minutes as the blue-and-gold. This time Sydney Richard had the hot hand to help the Rams grab a 26-point, 32-6 advantage, with 4:40 to go before halftime.  

Fitchburg State coupled back-to-back buckets for the first time to break up Suffolk's scoring frenzy. Those hoops would not lead to anything as the Rams ran into the locker room with a comfortable 40-13 cushion.  

The pattern of keeping the Falcons off the scoreboard to get a quarter started carried into the third. Suffolk scored six straight and held the host without a field goal for five minutes again to remain in front, 48-17, at the midway point. 

A 12-0 Suffolk spurt kept things lopsided in the Rams' favor, 60-17, and at the end of the third quarter the blue-and-gold held a 67-22 distance. 

Not many things changed in the fourth as Suffolk outscored the Falcons 20-6 to take the 87-28 decision. 

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING

• Five different Rams produced double figures. 
• Jenni-Rose DiCecco led the way with 22 points behind an 8-for-14 effort from the field. The floor general added six steals and five rebounds to the defensive end. 
• DeAngelis finished with 16 points, 12 of which came in the first 10 minutes. She shot 7-for-14 from the floor and grabbed five caroms. 
• Allie Lopes and Richard each had 13 points. The former added three takeaways and two dimes, while the latter chipped in four rebounds. 
• Sydney Noyes rounded out the Rams in double digits with 10 points on a 4-for-5 showing from the floor to go along with four rebounds and one handout. 
• Suffolk shot 47.9 percent (34-71) from the field. 
• The Rams outrebounded the Falcons, 49-36.  

NOTEWORTHY

• Suffolk and Fitchburg State met for the 13th time. 
• The Rams move to 7-6 all-time against the Falcons. 
• The blue-and-gold has bested FSU in the last five meetings. 
• Suffolk moves to 7-1 against Fitchburg State with Ed Leyden on the bench. 
• The 87 points scored are the most for the Rams in the all-time series with the Falcons.
• The 59-point margin of victory is the largest for Suffolk in the all-time meetings with Fitchburg State. 
• Three different players registered a career-high in points in DeAngelis (16), Noyes (10) and Aisling Crowley (7).
