Women's Basketball Continues Strong Second Half

The Suffolk University Women's Basketball team (11-6, 6-1 GNAC) continued their strong play in the second half of the season  winning their sixth game in seven chances as they topped the Rivier College Raiders (4-15, 2-4 GNAC), 84-48 on Saturday afternoon. With the win the Rams improve to 6-1 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play on the season.

Sophomore Lindsey Rogers (Gloucester, Mass.) was the Rams leading scorer with 16 points on 3-of-4 shooting from three-point land. Junior Meghan Black (Roslindale, Mass.) finished the game with 13 points scored and had a stellar defensive effort collecting eight steals in the contest, while sophomore Jacqueline Vienneau (Salem, N.H.) also scored 13 points. Junior Mary Garon (Auburn, N.H.) finished just a point shy of a double-double as she finished with a game-high 12 rebounds and nine points.

Suffolk once again took a monster lead into halftime as they outscored the Raiders 47-16 in the opening 20 minutes of the game.

Suffolk held a 52-33 edge in rebounds in the contest, as they shot 44.1 percent from the field as a team in the contest.

The Rams will be back in action on Monday as they play Newbury College in non-league action at 7:00pm. Suffolk will be back home on Wednesday evening as they host Johnson & Wales University in GNAC action at 7:00pm at the Regan Gymnasium.
