BOSTON – Suffolk softball takes a break from Commonwealth Coast Conference competition Wednesday, April with a mid-week doubleheader at Bridgewater State. Game one is scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m.

Suffolk softball was unable to make its way on the scoreboard as the University of New England blanked the Rams, 2-0, in the nightcap of a Commonwealth Coast Conference doubleheader at Nor'Easter Diamond.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk split a double feature at the University of New England Monday to hold a 14-16 overall record on the year.  

Julia Mills has been the most potent bat this season with team-best numbers in hits and RBI with 34 and 20, respectively. Ella Turnbull has also brought in 20 runs behind 28 hits, while Catherine Carignan has chipped in 31 hits, 15 RBI and 15 runs scored. Maddie Southers, who has 25 hits and 11 RBI to her credit, has scored a team-high 26 times.  

The Rams pitchers have combined for a 4.60 ERA. Lily Newhall (75.2 IP, 2.96 ERA, 28 K) and Cynthia Rucinski(72.2 IP, 4.53 ERA, 56 K) have taken on the bulk of the work load in the circle with over 70.0 innings pitched apiece. Ashlyn Conley (26.1 IP, 6 K) and Ella Turnbull (19.0 IP, 2.95 ERA, 15 K) have also twirled double-digit innings this season.  

BEARS BREAKDOWN
Bridgewater State swept Mass. Maritime in a doubleheader Monday to move to 14-12 on the year.  

Sydney Schaefer is the top threat at the plate with 30 hits and 21 RBI on a .375 average. Janet Jolly and Victoria Becker have added 24 hits each. The former has brought in 12 runs and scored 16, while the latter has palted and scored 11 runs, respectively. 

The Bears use five different pitchers on a regular basis in Olivia Hargeaves (43.1 IP, 1.29 ERA, 35 K), Olyvia Mendonca (39.1 IP, 3.38 ERA, 16 K), McKayla Cusack (32.1 IP, 3.90 ERA, 15 K), Madelyn Klingel (35.2 IP, 12 K, 5.10 ERA) and Tatiana Burcy (22.1 IP, 8.78 ERA, 11 K).

  • Suffolk and Bridgewater State renew a rivalry, meeting for the first time since 2008.
